Installation of two MaxDB databases servers on one Linux Server (reopened)

Hello,

we need to run MaxDB 7.6 and MaxDB 7.3 on one Linux server.

We testet the installation successfully with a Linux (Suse 9) 32 Bit System.

Now we tried to install it on Linux (Suse 9) 64Bit system - without success.

This installation failed with the error: "dbmsrvctl start: cannot switch to sdb owner".

The owner sdb and the group sdba have been created correct in /etc/passwd and /etc/group.

The MaxDB 7.3 installation uses the user sapdb and the group sapdb.

Should we use the user/group from MaxDB 7.3 for the MaxDB 7.6 installation?

Any hints?

Thx,

Udo

Hi Udo,

from MaxDB version 7.5 onwards, a new Security concept was introduced (with the sdb-user and sdba-group). If you installed MaxDB 7.6 on the server where SAP DB 7.3 was already installed, this new Security concept will be used.

Did you put the user 'sapdb' (from the 7.3 installation) into the newly created 'sdba' group?

Regards,

Roland
