When (which Release) will Java EE 5.0 AS be delivered within NetWeaver-Stack? Will there be a precedessor-version with J2EE 1.4?

Regards,

Hi,

I am searching for the same piece of information. And the thread you have linked doesn't answer this question sufficiently:

When will the J2E5 Web AS be available ? Is this bundled in a complete new Netweaver Release ? Will this be an update on Netweaver 2004?

Vladimir,

I too looked at that link but it doesn't really specify when this version of Netweaver will be out of ramp-up and in General Availability.

Does SAP have an announced date for GA?

Thanks!

David.

Hi David,

The above referenced thread says that "A timeline for this product will presumably be published early next year". So keep an eye on the topic.

Best regards,

Vladimir

Latest news on all of your questions is:

>Will there be a precedessor-version with J2EE 1.4?

There will be no predecessor version of NetWeaver that has only J2EE 1.4.

JEE5 will be delivered with Composition Environment, that will go to ramp up in May. A ramp up usually takes 6 month. Nevertheless, because this is a new approach we are thinking about new ways to shorten this period.

As you might have heard, we just have released ERP 2005, that is based on NetWeaver 2004s as a stable release until 2010. This means we have to keep the current NetWeaver release.

However, Composition Environment will be bundled with your current NetWeaver License and additional offers are in the pipeline.

>Does SAP have an announced date for GA?

We call that "unrestricted availability" and the answer is : No.

Hope that answers most of your questions.
