CCMS in the context of XI

I am trying to figure out how CCMS relates to XI, and how it would be used in XI.

I've read through forum threads, help.sap.com, presentations, and blogs. I am still confused because I know that CCMS expands across XI and to other components, including ECC. I want to know where XI sits in CCMS, and what monitoring functions is available from CCMS for XI (I know of the Alert Monitor, is there more?).

Any insight, examples, or very helpful and specific links would be much appreciated!
