how to fire filedownload link event?

hi everyone!

here's the problem i've got:

there's a wd view with a button which is while being pushed has to add some info into outlook calendar. the way i could do so imho is to download a file (using filedownload ui element) with a specific extenstion. the test application i wrote does this perfectly good but in that app i click a filedownload link manually. the question is: how can i emulate clicking on the filedownload link after pushing the button?

any ideas?

I have been looking for this for a long time but until now haven't found a solution. So as far as I'm concerned it is not possible.
