how to deploy web dynpro application in the portal?

Hi Payal,

Just do the steps as follows.

1. Fisrt login to SDN through ur UD and Password.

2. Then go to the eLearning area.

3. Choose SAP Netweaver Portal.

4. Then u will see the"SAP Netweaver Portal eLearning Catalog"

5. There are sections called Beginners,Intermediate and Advanced Courses.

6. Go to the Intermediate section and search for "Build Portal Content with Web Dynpro".

7. Then u will able to play that file.

Whats the exact error given while trying to 'deploy n run' from NWDS??

Pls check J2EE engine settings from the system info.

Can you paste the exact error from the deployment log ?

Exact error is "Dec 6, 2006 4:28:45 PM /userOut/deploy (com.sap.ide.eclipse.sdm.threading.DeployThreadManager) [Thread[Deploy Thread,5,main]] ERROR:

[006]Deployment aborted

Deployment exception : Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !"

Hi,

This error comes when J2EE engine settings are not configured in NWDS. From ur developer studio, go to Menu entry 'Windows'>>'Preferences'>>'SAP J2EE Engine'.

There enter your message server host and port.

If already done this, then please recheck the msg server port. You can verify this from

"http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo".

Message server port is given on top left of the sysinfo page.

Hi Payal,

You know this type of error occurs when urs SDM is not working.

Just open ur Visual Administrator and check is SDM is running or not , if not then right click on this and then Enable the process.

Otherwise u can restart your J2EE server once again.

Pyal you can deploy your projects .par file directly in the Portal

Goto->System Adminstration ->Support->Portal runtime->Administrative Console->Upload the .par file.

You can find .par file in the workspace of ur project.

Hi Payal,

Whats the error you are getting actually ?

Try to add the host (IP address ) details in host file location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.bat fine and see if you can deploy it.

There is one more facility how you can deploy ..You can also deploy by adding the EAR file at the server , but its not suggested .Its only for some specific reasons but not recommanded as a user.

No, it is not possible to deploy in Portal.

you can deploy in the J2ee engine only and it will created as Archive that would be configured in portal.

You must deploy to the engine where the portal resides, you can not deploy directly to the "Portal", it is the java engine underneath that you deploy to. So, the question is why can't your "Deploy New Archive and Run"?
