can any one please give me the difference between integration of RFID with XI and

integration of RFID with XI & AII component

RFID with XI

This scenario helps to Integrate (RFID – XI) to any SAP system or some other Enterprise Application Systems (non SAP systems)

RFID with XI & AII

SAP – AII - This is SAP’s own component to provide end to end solutions for RFID.In this scenario XI helps to Integrate SAP and non SAP systems

Hi,

Let us not forget that RFID is just a technology and we have vendors like SAP, Sun, IBM etc that provide different solutions.

The difference between RFID with XI and RFID with XI & AII :

<b>RFID and XI :</b> We would surely need a middleware here in between the RFID Devices and XI (eg. AII System or some other system) to communicate and get the data from the Device Controller and pass it on to XI and vice versa.

<b>RFID with AII and XI :</b> This is typically what you would find in any RFID implementation. The benefits :

Integrated Scenario : You can implement the integrated scenario her which means both inbound and outbound scenarios. XI can get data from the AII and pass on to the ERP system and viceversa.

hi vijay,

Technically speaking, It is possible to do RFID with out AII .

That is if you have a substitute for carrying out the functions of AII, for example an IBM or any other RFID middleware.

This scenario will occure only if you want to integrate existing Non-SAP RFID infrastructure & SAP's ERP infrastructure.

Hi,

you cannot do RFID integration without AII

as AII is resopnsible for doing the RFID part

(from the application perspective)

XI is just a message broker between SAP R3 and AII

nothing more
