how can i generate the solution manager key at the time of SAP installation.

Hello Vinay,

We have to Use the SAP Solution Manager to generate the installation / upgrade key, e.g. for mySAP ERP 2005 and it can be generated as follows.

Firstly, the system has to be created in SMSY tcode.

On the landscape components click Systems.Choose the Product category and click create new system with Assistant. Provide all the Info and it would create the system for you.

Once the system is available in Systems tab, then go tio Main menu MAIN INSTANCE and Other Object. Provide the system in the System Field .

At the bottom a Key symbol would be available. Click it and click Generate KEY Option, It would provide the Key and this can be used for installation or setup of Projects in Solman.

Please revert back for Info in this regard.

but how can i open this SMSy transaction.shall i open this on anothe server or installing server.

Do you have a SOlution Manager system installed already in your landscape, then you have to use the same to generate this KEY. SMSY tcode is available in the Solman System and this Key has to be generated in solution manager.

Nothing to do with the present server or installation.

I want some help from you, your tips looks to be helpful

we did not install any SAP Solution manger in our testing server and now

my IT Manager insist me to install it...

I want to first install in the development server then if it works then transfer to production server

So how can I start installing SAP Solutiom manager 4.0 and what are the procedure to installed.

Hi,

If you want solman generation key for any sattelite systems, do the following procedure.

1. Install Solution Manager 3.1/3.2/4.0 on one system.

2. Then install satellite systems (R3 systems).

3. log into the solman server and give tcode SMSY.

4. Add satellite info in solman system like SID, DB Name and OS etc.

5. Finally, u have to create solman key for satellite systems and apply it.

What system Product are you installing, Product Version and also the Installation number is required for its generation.
