NWDS Compatability issue

Hi All,

Please can someone tell me if it's okay to user SP18 NWDS to development Portal Components and Web Dynpros for SP16 Portal? My understanding is that the Web Dynpro Generator is different for each release, hence is not advised to use a later version to develop for an older version of the Portal.

Hi Raj,

Your understanding is correct, its generaly recommended to keep you patch levels aligned. Despite this you may wish to proceed and develop with the patch level difference(as I am sure many people do). Just keep in mind that you have the difference should you encounter a problem that is otherwise un-explainable.

NWDS version should always be less than or equal to the version of your SERVER.
