Adding Monitor sets

Former Member

Hi,

I am using a third-party tool to monitor SAP and can view all the default CCMS Monitoring templates provided by SAP within this tool.

My objective is to monitor the Number of Dialog Steps and Avg Response times for each Application within my ECC (like FI, MM, SD, PM etc). My questions are as below:

1. Is this information already part of a monitor set in the default templates?

2. If it is then which template and which monitor set should I be using to get this info ?

3. Can I create and add a template to the Default CCMS Monitoring Template to get this information?

Any answers to the above is very much appreciated.

Murali.

Hi,

it does mean that if you're only interested in performance indicators of some special transactions, you can enter these transaction codes in table ALTRAMONI. Usually, you wouldn't add ST07 (or another admin transaction) in the table; as you're not interested in the dialog response time of that transaction, but of the application transactions crucial for your productive work.

This is described in the first link (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a7/81414e8c5411d3b486006094b910d9/frameset.htm).

Then you can monitor these values in the monitor "Transaction-Specific Dialog Monitor " of the monitor set "SAP CCMS Monitors for Optional Components".

This is described in the second link (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/b3/468e3b093d4031e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm).

As an alternative, you can create your own monitor. You simply need the name of the MTE class you want to display in the monitor; but as you define that name in table ALTRAMONI, you will know the name of the class.

If you need more information about creating your own monitors in the CCMS, try the following SAP Tutor (located in the SAP Service Marketplace): http://service.sap.com/monitoring --> Education & Workshops --> Creating a Rule-Based-Monitor.

Kind regards

Dirk

Hi,

if I understand you correctly, you are not interested in the Number of Dialog Steps and Avg Response Time on instance level, but on application level. This makes things more difficult, because usually all the values in the CCMS monitor templates are on instance or system level (e.g. the attributes you mentioned you can find in SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Entire System --> R/3 Services --> Dialog --> <Instance> --> ResponseTime/DialogSteps).

However, you can restrict the values for certains transaction and/or clients, but you have to do some customizing before. See the following links:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a7/81414e8c5411d3b486006094b910d9/frameset.htm

Kind regards

Does this mean that I can just customize the transaction monitor and add the transaction code (I guess it is ST07 which shows the app level dialog steps) and then use the template for monitoring ?

I am a newbie to SAP however I have an SAP admin who can set this up for me.

Could you confirm please. Thanks.
