SRM: Manufaturer Part number

Hi,

we have an SRM-Plan Driven Procurement scenarious, integrated with a MySAP Aerospace and defence.

In SRM, after migration of requisition, we create Auction or Bid invitation, and then we create a PO or a Contract in Backend.

In that standard version of R/3 there is a Routine that having internal code (MATNR) the system translate it in the Manufaturer Part number inserted in a field of the same material master data.

In this way the vendor, in external document like PO or RFQ, can display the external number (MFRPN) instead of internal code (MATNR).

In migration of material master data from R/3 to SRM, Our goal should be find the way, to have both the material code so that vendors can use in SRM, in their bid, the Manufaturer Part number.

Regards.

Simone,

Hi. I think manipulating the material number to have a dual purpose is going to complicate your system unnecessarily.

In our system we have configured the catalog search to allow the users to see both manufac. part number and material number. All "reports" we have added in the manufac. part number as the users like to see this information, and print outs (Communicaiton with the vendors) we have modified to include the manufac. part number as a key column).

Hope this helps.

Cheers
