hi experts,
can u explain the purpose of adapter engine, integation engine and BPE ,please explain in briefly ...
HI
Adapter engine: A Java Connector Architecture(JCA) complaint adapter engine for connecting backend systems to the XI.Adapter engine provides connectivity between XI and Enterprice Informatiom Systems(EIS).
Integation engine : The central processing engine of XI.All messages whether SAP or NON-SAP,A2A,B2B,regardless of backend or vendor, are processed in a consistent way.
BPE: The Business Process Engine (BPE) processes integration processes at runtime.

Hi Raj Kumar,
Adapter Engine:
It converts the Non-XML messages into XML messages,as Integration Engine can understand only XML messages..and vice versa..
Integration Engine:
It s the place where message gets processed ie..message gets transformed from source format to target format...all the pipiline services will be executed here...
BPE:
It works same as the Integration engine but it executes integration process..some complex work processes built by integration process will be exevuted by BPE.

Manikandan Rajendran

Hi,
Adapter Engine:
You use the Adapter Engine to connect the Integration Engine to SAP systems (RFC adapter) and external systems. You use the various adapters in the Adapter Engine to convert XML- and HTTP-based messages to the specific protocol and format required by these systems, and the other way around.
Integration Engine:
The Integration Engine enables you to process XML messages exchanged between applications in heterogeneous system landscapes. Both applications of SAP components and external applications can communicate with the Integration Engine.
BPE:
The Business Process Engine (BPE) executes integration processes at runtime.
Regards,
Sudheer.
