Hi,
I am currently working on JAVA and I don't know SAP. I want to learn Netweaver. I have around 3 years of experience in Java, J2EE. Please suggest a component in Netweaver which suits my profile. How far will it be helpful for me.
Thanks in advance.

Vishnu Priya

Hi Vishnu,
You are familiar with java and j2ee i would like to suggest to go for SAP Netweaver Enterprise portal (EP) as it includes Webdynpro,WebAS where u can develop web based application using java or ABAP.
SAP Netweaver portal (EP) is based on Java and its running on J2EE engine.
The SAP online help is a good source to start with.
For portal concepts and overview you can start with the link below:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a4/76bd3b57743b09e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
For EP development, you can start by accessing the online help for EP developers. This is a part of the portal documentation.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/19/4554426dd13555e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
There are also e-learning sessions on EP at SDN at the following link:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn?rid=/webcontent/uuid/4b0c105e-0501-0010-bcb0-92478a4b2a17 [original link is broken]
Also have a look at the following thread:
/thread/9163 [original link is broken]
Finally, Vishnu you can try to install the sneak preview version of portal. Go to downloads section on SDN. You will find detailed information there.

Hi,
Is there any possibilty to learn SAP EP then that is good for you.
In EP you have different possibilities.
U can develop Poral content in different scenarios.
1) using java u can develop custom portal content
2) Using J2ee also
3) Using JSP and HTML u can go for EFP.
4) Web Dynpro also u can learn web dynpro for JAVA.
Any of these are better
Choose any of them
Thanks,
Lohi.
