Hi experts,
I want to know how do u transport in xi, and also i want to know what is the system landscape in xi(ie do we have Dev, Qty, Prod). I am familiar with transports in R/3 but a bit new to XI(if u feel Question silly pls Xcuse).
Like in R/3 we usually release(transport organiser) going to tcode - se01, se10 and then the basis team moves it to qty and prod.
I have read some of the stuff, but it was not clear.
Looking forward for your early reply.
regards, verma.
Hi verma,
It depends what type of XI object :
Basically and summarized :
-the abap objects ( e.g. ABAP mappings ) you of course do the same way as R/3
-the ID/IR objects you do according to export/import
-you can either use the file system and transfer the file manually from the export directory on the source to the import directory on the target ( = default setup : easy but not as managed as in R/3 )
-use CMS : Managed change management environment that will automatically do the export/import transfers for you ( it needs to be configured )
( you will need to post process usually the IR objects to complete with e.g. production settings although you can automate that dev/qa/prod system are replaced automatically )
-the SLD objects : export/import
regards
Dirk
