Hello,
Normally the practice would be to place u r archive at two destinations(on two different drive....)
Out of which from one drive u have to regularly fire the backup of archives through SAP at the time of taking the Hotbackup......
so once u take the successfull hot backup and archive backup from any one of the drive then there is no need to delete the archive if u had configured the SAVE & DELETE backup policy in SAP....
At the same time when u r second drive is full with the Oracle Archive then u can simply take it on tape and store it for future use....
So it all depends on u r backup stretegy and policy....
Thanks
dont forget to give reward points..plz..
Hi Lisa,
Do you mean archive logs from saparch directory?
If so, yes you can delete the old ones before the backups, online or offline, and after the backuping them with brarchive.
With brarchive -scd option you can copy on the tape and delete.
