Hi everybody,
hope your XIs running well!!
I currently facing the problem, that my installation stucks in step 36 of 93. In the systlog of the mmc it issues the error "Database error 12541 at CON". Therefore the disp&work process run into stop and the installation stops. I am using Oracle 10.2 with the PI installation. Any tips on how to establish the database connection will be appreciated.
Regards Oliver
Hi Oliver,
normally the listener is installed by SAPINST during installation of the database instance. On which stage of the installation are you ? What is already installed ? What is your installation order of central instance, database instance, system central service instance(s) ?
Additionally you can try to start the listener via command line with user <sid>adm "lsnrctl start" (if the listener name is "LISTENER". At least on UX this works, hopefully on Windows as well ;-).

Hi Oliver,
this means that there is no listener running for your database. In services there should be an entry called "LISTENER...", check if the service is running. If not, try to start. If the listener does not start check listener logfile in $ORACLE_HOME\network\log\listener.log.
The port provided by the listener (see listener.ora) and the port used by SQLNet client (tnsnames.ora) must match.

Hi Juergen,
Ok, the ports in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora are identical (1527). I checked the services under the computer management --> Services and Application (Windows 2003 server), but no Service like "LISTENER..."!
Obviously you are on the right way :->>
What can I do now? Was my installation wrong?
Regards Oliver
Hi Oliver,
please check the status of your listener first. Is it running ? Are the the correct listener ports used ?
Use for example "tnsping <DBSID>" as user <sid>adm.

Hi Juergen
can you please give me a little bit more instructions? Your recommendation sounds good, because I had already a look into the listener.ora.
How can I check if the listener is running and how can I verify if the correct ports are used?
I did the tnsping and received the following:
"... TNS-12541: TNS: no listener". I think this is important, the other infos are from the listener.ora. The port there ist 1527.
Thanks Oliver
