Hello Rahul,

Have you resolved your problem? If yes, can you post the results? I configured the same thing as you did and got exactly error message as you. Still try to figure out why.

Dezso, I followed your Note 607108 and test both side communication works. Still get that error. I am wondering do we need create a node and link RFC connection like we did before on 4.6C or lower version with SAPconnect? My assumption is we don't have to do that as WAS 6.40 can directly talk to mail server (MS exchange server in our case)...

Thanks and regards,

Hello,

Exactly. WAS can talk directly to the mailserver. You must have one (and only one) SMTP node in Tr. SCOT. This does not have an RFC destionation, but has the mailserver host and port information. Here you can set the address space for this SAPConnect node.

If your error is the same: have you tried to add specific recipient addresses to the node's address space?

Best regards

Hi Dezso,

Thanks for your very helpful answer. My error message went away after I added "*" in the specific recipient addresses area. I wish I could give you some points but seems not a option for me since I did not ask the initial question...

Thanks again,

Hello,

things to make sure:

1. The SMTP Service is active in Tr SMICM (GOTO-> Services)

Than: Port 80 seems suspicous.

2. No route Can happen, if you missconfigured the node. eg. You have set the * for FAX instead of Internet.

Can you please exactly copy the error message you recive here?

Thank you!

hi dezso,

In SCOT while configuring SMTP node I gave:

Mail Host : ip address of the mail server of our company

Mail Port: 25

The mail port 25 ...is it correct or do I need to use any other port.

and for the PARAMETER

"icm/server_port_1: prot:SMTP port:80 EXTBIN:1"

is the above port no:80 correct? if not, which port no do I use?

regards,

rahul

Dear Rahul,

The SMICM port is free configurable. Choose a free open port of your system. The SMTP Service MUST be shown as active to be be able to send SMTP mails.

The SAP note #607108 how you can test the connection from your R/3 system to your Mailhost. This test has to be succesful.

Make sure in the Address space you have used the star() without any other caracter. / For test cases you can additionally enter here specific maill addresses too */

Please tell us your results.

Hi Rahul,

Looks like your ICM services did not startup. You have to setup instance profile parameter rdisp/start_icman = true in your central instance and apps server if you have. And then restart the system. Then ICM should automatically started when you restart your system. Note, you have to physically add this line to your profile. Even you can see SAP default setting rdisp/start_icman = true will not be enough.

Thanks,

Hello,

can you please create an ICM trace about this?

Go to Tr. SMICM turn on the ICM trace (set it to level 3) , reproduce the problem, and turn athe trace level back to 1. Than open the trace from Tr. SMICM and check for the error code. Here I assume the error is coming back from the mail server. If you copy paste here the trace, I will try to look in it for you.

You can also make a test as described in SAP note: 607108 for the otbound mail, to ensure the mail server is accessibble from the opration system level.

Best regards,

Dezso

hai dezso...

i am able send emails from SAP to our company domain(ie *@abcd.com)

but i am not able to send emails to other domains like gmail , yahoo etc...

i tried to send emails to gmail etc ...the following error occured..

"Recipient Is Valid. Delivery Attempted"

"Message no. XS718".

and in SMTP node settings for internet i defined in the following way..

*@abcd.com(our company domain)

*@gmail.com

*@yahoo.com.

if i give * there i am not able to send emails to any domain..

i have tested according to the 607108 note number..

the test is successful....

Hallo Rahul,

the problem with the domain dependent delivery is not an SAP problem I assume. Maybee the relay settings of the SMTP subsystem do not allow the sending of mails to xternal domains. Please let your Mailsystem administrator to check this.

The problem with the * can you please make sure no other INT node has the * entry?

If an other also has please delete it.

Best regards,

Dezso

Hi Rahul,

Did you activate the node? Check that the node is active by going to SCOT -> View -> Node -> SMTP -> check that the Option "Node in use" is checked.

Hope this help!

Hi Rahul,

Did you test the route first?

I think the domain name should be the domain of your mail server which is given to user mail id.e.g. domain name rediff.com where mail id is xyz@rediff.com
