Barcodes

Up to now, we have used barcode chips in HP printers for this, but this is becoming so prolific, I need to come up with a different software based solution. We use only iSeries. What is everyone using to solve this?

Hello Jerry,

if you no longer want to use additional barcode hardware (EPROM) there are two alternatives:

1. Use barcode capable printers, like KYO*

2. Use software solution like barcode.dll

Please have a look at SAPNote 14561.

We use rmtoutq on iSeries, with allot of network printers. We indeed do use SAPLPD too. Has anyone used or heard of this product? TBarCode/Direct

We are currently using TBarCode from TEC-IT (http://www.tec-it.co.at/). We have been using it for over two years now without any problems. Zero maintenance needed.

Our configuration consists of SAPlpd running as a service (Note 42268) on our Windows Print server. The Output Devices are then configured using Access Method S. The Host printer is the name of the printer on the Windows Print server and Destination Host is the IP address of the Windows print server.

Hi Jerry,

I setup it as well. It is very easy to do.

The only point: SAPlpd is no longer supported for servers from SAP. You should use SAPSprint instead - but that works the same way - so no problem for you - just more stable than SAPLPD.

Hello!

I'm Guenter - the CEO of TEC-IT. If you are interested in reference customers just let us know. Usually customer names are not published on tec-it.com. We would be glad to provide you with reference customers which are using TBarCode/SAPwin (SAPSprint) or TBarCode/Direct on request..

Hope this helps!

Guenter, TEC-IT (http://www.tec-it.com)

Note to Jerry: You mentioned iSeries. Possibly you are interested in a native and server based barcode solution. We have ported our barcode software to it - so maybe this is of interest for you.
