Migrate content server from sapdb to maxdb (6.20 to 6.40)

Hi All,

We have content server 6.20 with sapdb 7.3.00.20.

We want to install a new server with content server 6.40 and maxdb 7.5 (we need to copy all the data from the sapdb to maxdb).

The content server will be connected to R3 4.6C version.

Is there a documented procedure on how to do it or is it a simple export/import that is related to the DB only?

p.s

Where can I download content server 6.40?

(When I go to service.sap.com/swdc

Installations and Upgrades -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP CONTENT SERVER, I see version 6.30 and when I go to

Installations and Upgrades -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 04 -> MSSQL/Oracle

NW 2004s SR1 Presentation - SAP Content Server 6.40

As far as I know 6.40 is NW2004 and 7.00 is NW2004s so what do I need to download and where can I find it

Thanks,

Omri

Hi Omri,

there is no documented Howto for this procedure yet. And yes you need to do it with db means as the R3load is not applicable for Content Server.

The tool you can use is the Loader. I'll write a short Howto and post it here.

When do you plan to migrate and what OS do you use?

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for the reply.

The old OS is Win 2000. The new OS will be Win 2003 Server R2.

I want to install NEW system and copy the db content of the old one to it (not upgrade).

Thanks,

Omri

Hi Omri,

yep I know. Anyway thanks for the hint ;-). So when do you plan to install your new system and take over the data?

This can be done with the MaxDB Loader. Even if it's called Loader it's rather an ETL tool that can be used to export and import data.

Steffen

Hi Steffen,

First of all I want to install the new system on a VMWare machine. When I'll see that everything is OK I will install the 'real' system on a new machine.

Another question:

Where can I found the download of the web content server (ver 6.40). I didn't find it on service.sap.com/swdc

Thanks,

Omri

Hello Omri,

did you already check Support Packages and patches -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP CONTENT SERVER -> SAP CONTENT SERVER 6.30

Here you will find the MaxDB Version for Content-Server Version 6.30 and 6.40.

Is this the software you were looking for?

Hi Christiane,

This is exactly my problem:

I can see Content Server 6.40 in Support Packages but I cannot see it in Installations.

Hallo Omri!

You can find Content Server 4.0 on the Presentations DVD of NW2004s. You have to install it over Sapinst.
