My question is what are the parameters used for IDOC Adapters?

Usually you need to provide;
1. RFC dest - this is the one that is created in XI pointing to R3
2. Interface version - choose approp. from the drop down.
3. Port - created in XI ref. to R3
4. SAP Release - the basis version for ex. 640, 420 etc.
