sapinst is not starting

Hello,

we did a huge search at this site but did not get an answer jet.

We are trying to install SAP NetWeaver Java Edition on our System.

We installed a clean Windows 2003 Advanced Server, installed all available Windows Updates, downloaded the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version

and tried to install it with the sapinst.exe

In the Background we opend a SAP GUI login screen from one of our SAP Systems at the univerity, otherwise we could not even get the sapinst.exe to do anything.

So now sometimes the installation mask comes up, sometimes it doesent. If it doesent it say Could not log on to SAP GUI on Port 21200. We are using SAP GUI 640.

If it starts we say new installation and the status bar is telling "Loading resource pool". Thats all, now we could wait forever. Nothing happens.

We almost tried everyting, we did start the server several times, no firewall is running.

Anny help there? Please, we need to get the system running. Thank you!

I had the same OS and same symptoms. In my case it turned out to be that Symantec Antivirus/Autoprotect was the cause.

We did "solve" the problem ourselv. Since there was no way the sapinst would start under Windows Server 2003 we are now using Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

We all belive it is some kind of Security issue. But could nor find any ressource on it.

To all the other users who have the same problem! Please report a sollution here if you ever find one.

Hi,

Just a Suggestion make sure the JDK is there and also check environment variable.

Hello Subhash,

thanks for your advise, but JDK is running and the path variables are set. The instalation log also finds JDK sucsesfully.
