Hi All,
We're unable to activate (with or without metadata replication) data sources that are from a R/3 4.6C EBCDIC system. The BW system is a new install of 3.5. It is able to successfully replicate metadata and activate when the source system is a CRM 4.0 (ASCII) system. The error message is "Incorrect IDoc type éâÄÃðôð@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ in the ALE definition of the source system" (RSAR 373). We had SAP Content Server EBCDIC --> ASCII translation problems when we upgraded to V5R4 and I wonder if this is a similar type problem. We also see rscpLangCPListGetCPtry failed (2048): lang: ZH in the work process log. Has anyone seen this error and found a way around it?
TIA,
Stan
Hi Stanley,
I would suggest that open a customer message like the other poster stated. Even thou EBCDIC is not recommended (a conversion to ASCII is), it shoudl still work.
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Stan,
at least it is sure, that you are facing an ASCII-EBCDIC issue, as EBCDIC-blank is x'40' and ASCII-@ is x'40' as well. So, here the data in the BW is not converted. But, I'm a b it surprised, because this is standard, that it works fine ... I would be surprised, if this would be dropped in the meantime. I guess, you transfer the data via RFC and this should do the conversion. Perhaps the standard config is in the meantime "binary containers" ... I would search for notes in this area and then open an SAP message ....
