I am learning how to connect RFID reader to integrate with SAP R/3. Does SAP R/3 provides components for the RFID Middleware, or I have to installed a third party RFID Middleware in order to integration with application in SAP R/3? Any discussion is welcome.

Hi Freddy,
In addition to many answers you got, here is a little bit more information.
From SAP's point of view, we support RFID through our Auto-ID Infrastructure (aka AII). In terms of integrating with R/3, we have been developing and delivering the RFID enabled solutions by integrating AII with R/3 via XI.
For that reason, we don't have intention to connect to any RFID devices directly to R/3. Both those hardware vendors you mentioned can connect with AII directly, or indirectly via a device controller/management software.
Technically, R/3 does not exclude any RFID middleware such as the Sybase you mentioned. In such a scenario, it is up to Sybase to deliver a package to connect to R/3 with their middleware software.
Hope this answers your questions,
George

Hi Freddy,
As Michel said, SAP Auto-ID infrastructure is used to connect and perform RFID related operations with SAP R/3.
But can you please confirm if you were asking about RFID Device integration ( On the lines of Device Controllers etc) ?

Do you have more details on how to connect Alien and Symbol RFID reader?

Hi Wong,
Please refer to this link for integration of RFID devices with AII system. This doesn't talk much about the third party Device Controllers (DC).
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_autoid40/helpdata/en/index.htm -> Go to Integration -> Integration with RFID Devices.
Integration of RFID devices with DC and DC with AII would be taken care by third party vendor of DC.
Hope this helps.

Sunil
Hi,
>>>>or I have to installed a third party RFID Middleware in order to integration with application in SAP R/3?
