Is SAP Query (SQ01) supported by Visual Composer?

Do you know if it is possible to easily integrate a query developed in an ABAP backend system via SAP Query (transaction SQ01) in Visual Composer?

Yes, there is a connector for SAP Query available. You can use SAP Queries.

I guess you have to configure a connection over the system landscape in the portal as every other connection.

Have you tried it out?

Haven't tried that yet. Do you know of any how-to descriptions? Because I think this is different from configuring a plain R/3 connector? How to define this is a SAP Query?
