Records in MDM Hierarchy

Former Member

Dear MDM specialists,

Is there any way to create a hierarchy like

X

--->Y

-

>Z

and have data records at each of the levels not just at the last level.If so kindly let me know how.

So every level ( or wherevr possible ) would always have all the fields of the mian table as part of the record isnt ?

Thank You.

J

Josh,

I hope I am not wrong in understanding your question... However, here is what I can say.

In a Hierarchy table (H1), let us say you have fields F1, F2, F3 and you have three records X, Y, Z. Then you can have the relationship you mentioned maintained in Hierarchy table and can maintain data for all fields of table H1, that is F1, F2 and F3 for all 3 records X, Y and Z.

But, in case you have a Lookup[Hierarchy] field in your Main table refering to table H1, then the current limitation is: you can only associate "Leaf" nodes of your Hierachy table. That means, within your Main table data entry, when you do a drop down for the field that has lookup to H1, you can only select record "Z" in your case, but not X or Y as they are not leaf nodes.

Please let me know whether I understood your question properly or not....

Rajani,

Q1) Is there any way to create a hierachy at a over all level and not at a field level.

Today my company uses a NON SAP solution wherein

they can maintain data at each level in the hierarchy.

(they have fields based on the hierarchy selected)

I.e. if a user selects a record in say Level X,he will see all the related records of Level Y below it and based on a Y selection will see Z records.

How do we represent such a thing thru MDM ?

Q2) Can I only create a Hierarchy at field level ?

Q3) If I use Hierachy at a feild level,and I have hierarchies like

X ( Say the title is "This is LEVEL X")

--->Y (" Y)

-

>Z (")

and

A

--->B

-

C

so on and so forth

how to populate the titles (i.e. "This is LEVEL X" ... Y, A, B et all along with its data.

Greatly appreciate your prompt help.

Thanks.

Josh.
