Hello,
I'm looking for "successful" references on BW/BI upgrades (on i5/OS), specifically from 3.5 to 7.0, including the J2EE add-in stack.
How was it ?
Thank you,
Martin.
Thanks Guido.
Unfortunately this guide only address from BW 3.5 ABAP to BI 7.0 ABAPJ2EE. We are actually running BW 3.5 ABAPJ2EE as we are using the UDC functionnality available in the J2EE stack. Your answer makes me worried that this combination is not very popular (on Netweaver'04) and that not much tests could have been performed on the BW upgrade of both ABAP+J2EE stacks as source released (on iSeries), any idea?
Thank you,
Martin.

Hello Martin,
might be that following link may help:
Here all required steps are described.
For i5 it is a "normal" ABAP-Upgrade.
But you should plan your IT-Scenario according to the Master-Guide. You do not necessarily require an ADD-In installation of the J2EE Engine, depending on your Portal-usage.
For an ADD-In J2EE you should think about additional hardware requirements. ADD-In would mean that ABAP and Java shares the same memory-pool, which is an disadvantage concerning the garbage-collector,see:

Hope this helps a little bit.
Regards
Guido
