Overlay controls over a image background

Is it possible to overlay a couple of Lables, a DropDown box and another image over a background image inside Web DynPro. From what I've seen backgrounds can only be set to a colour and not an image and the various layouts don't allow you to force things over each other. Is there a work around for this?

No, this is not possible. And there is no workaround for this. Even if you create custom theme for WD you will be unable to define background image.
