RFC Connection 4.6c - XI Server! How to configure?!

Former Member

Hi,

well actually i am trying to connect a XI Server and an external SAP 4.6c.

We have a SAProuter which we use to connect and programm in the 4.6c.

Now we will do a B2B Scenario, so we will have to have a RFC destination which we can use. therefore i thought we just put the SAProuter String from the SAPGui into the destination field in the XI System and it works. But it doesn't.

I am no admin but i am pretty sure that we have to configure the 4.6c but till now i am not knowing if they use a SAProuter too!

Does somebody know what to configure or what kind of possibilities exists to establish the communication on the easiest und fastes way?!

Please keep in mind that i am no admin but willing to understand as much as possible.

Please report in detail!!

Best regards,

JS

Hi,

I have configured an RFC destination from XI to a 4.6 c R3 system and it works fine.

In the RFC destination, try giving the IP address instead of the hostname and ensure that details like System number, and the log on data are valid and then try a Test Connection.

Great, maybe u have a documentation of your single steps?!

Do u also have a SAProuter in between?

Do u use a the gateway?

What kind of rights does the "remote user" must have?!

thx in advance, i really thankful for further information!

Hi,

There is no Gateway Host and Gateway Service. The RFC destination is like any other RFCdestination we have created.

For the authorizations needed , refer to the Note : Note 837595 - IDoc adapter metadata EDISDEF not maintained.

Hi,

First you can make a normal SAP R/3 connection from SM59 giving the details of the remote server and do remote login. If you are able to login to the system then all the prots are open and then you your other TCP/IP connection should also work.

Well this is interesting.

I am doing a "Connection test" with a dump like:

"connection to host 1xx.xxx.10x.xx, service sapgw20 timed out CPI-C error CM_PR"

Also when i check to do Remote Login it says:

"connection to host 1xx.xxx.10x.xx, service sapgw20" with a confirm sign but its not working. Message-No. SR000

In detail:

I am in the 4.6c.

connection type: 3, Connection to SAP-System

destination: 1xx.xxx.10x.xx,

systemid: 20

User and password are given.

After this i made:

- we21 to create an tRFC-Port (with the created RFC-Connection)

- bd54 to create a logical system for the receiver system (should receive IDocs)

- we20 for a partner degreement of type LS and added some outbound parameters

In the XI System:

- sm59 create a RFC-Destination, Type 3, with the IP-Address of the sender-system (4.6c), still using gateway(!)

- idx1 to create a port for receiving IDocs

this isn't working because the RFC-Connection isn't working!

I guess the configuration in the SLD i configured right!

Have i done sth. wrong?!

Plz help!!!

thx, JS

Hi,

Things look good to me.

Maybe there is a firewall between the SAP system and XI or ports are not open.

Try to ping the R3 system from your XI box and vice versa. Contact and find from your netwrok admin if the connectivity is available.

Hi,

Am not exactly aware of the details, but, this link also contains a list of default ABAP ports. Check this and see if it helps,

Thought i is on me that nothing is working

Hand over the problem to our admins, hope they can solve it.

Perhaps i post the solution on this here, later!

Thx Bhavesh!

Hi

You need to define the RFC destination in XI.

Port : You need to create RFC port - follow this -

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/db/8ab6e7de6411d1a5330060087a79ea/frameset.htm

in case of an IDOC involved;

R3 - SM59

1. RFC destination (pointing to XI)

3. Port involving the RFC destination.

in XI

1. SM59 - RFC destination to R3

2. IDX1 - define the port.

Thx,

but its not that simple.

I know the steps but in this case is the main question what kind of destination i have to enter:

1. just the IP-Address

2. or the SAProuter-String

Do i have then to use a System-No and a gateway or not?!

And in which of the given points just mentioned?

These are my main questions!!!

thx in advance!

Hi,

><i> I know the steps but in this case is the main question what kind of destination i have to enter:

1. just the IP-Address

2. or the SAProuter-String</i>

It normally works with either the IP address or the HostName.

If you have tried it with Host Name and it aint working, then select the option IP address in SM59 in your RFC destination , and give the IP address against the field TARGET HOST . The system number will be the 2 digit system number and in the Log On / Security, give the Client and the User id and password.
