Hi,
We are planing to implement HP data protector for our existing SAP environment running on HP-UX os. Iam new to this configuration ,please suggest how it workds.
How to install server and client side this data protector.
How to schedule offlice and online backup. Do i need to run any scripts or batch jobs for this.
Please suggest with more details.

We implemented DP 5.1
You have to install First Cell Manager ( preferebly On Windows)
If you have windows and Unix Clients for backup
Install One Windows Installation Server on Cell Manager
Install One Unix Installation Server to on any Unix Server
For Window / Unix Clients - Minimal You have install
DP Media Agent & Disk Agent
For Windows you can also insyall
Automatic Disaster Recovery Agent for Single Button Disaster Recovery
if Applications installed on client then also install agents - Like

For SAP - Install SAP R/3 Integration Compoennt
For Oralce - Install Oracle Integration Component
For Lotus - Lotus Integration Component
For MSSQL - MS SQL 7.9/2000 Integration Component
Don't worry about file system Backup as it it taken care by Disk Agent & Media Agents which you install minimal on any host.
SAP Specific Information

FOR SAP BRBACKUP & BRACHIVE Use below Switches :
HP DP5.1 is delivered with scripts
For On line Use - BRBACKUP with "-t online -d util_file -c "
For Archive First Copy Save Use BRARCHIVE with " -d util_file -s -c "
For Archive Second Copy & Delete Use BRARCHIVE with -d util_file -scd -c "
switches.
Go thru the DP 5.1 administration Manual it is very good and extreemly excellent product for Backup Management.
Recovery is so easy and excellent.
