Hello all,
After about 2 weeks of battling installations of both Fedora and SAP NetWeaver Testdrive I have now reached the point of where I can use the gui to go to SAP.
When I want to log in I get an immediate short dump saying: DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_REQUEST. Invalid call of database interface. In this thread: they talk about the solution being in the hosts file. I have tried that but to no avail.
Here is what I have configured:
hostname = localhost.localdomain
string to connect = conn=/H/localhost/S/3200
my hosts file looks like:
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.0.0.14 localhost localdomain
195.155.155.1 nw4host
I have played around with the hostname by changing it to: localhost, NW4HOST and localhost.localdomain
Further I checked if everything is running, it is.
Anybody knows where I need to look?

RolandD

Dear all,
solve the problem. You have to install the MS Loop Back Adapter. Hier ist the link how to do it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/236869/en-us/. I have windows 2000 Advance Server and after installing this Adapter the dump gone.

Hello all,
well, i have installed SAP netweaver testdrive sr1 on linux Fedora Core 3. On server, everything works fine but I can't connect from my local server.
I'm using SAPgui 4.6D on windows and I receive the same message than your first.
Here is my /etc/hosts file :
127.0.0.1 localhost serveur.vileo.localhost serveur
192.168.0.1 serveur fredborn.no-ip.org
192.168.0.1 nw4host
But that change nothing...
here is the error message :

PS : if i have to install MS Loopback, how must i config it ???
Hi Fred,
I've also installed NW04 on linux fc3 with success after some tweaking. I got the same issue initially but managed to get it working now.
Here are something I can suggest:
1) From what I see on your /etc/hosts, you might want to add one more line:
192.168.0.1 localhost
2) from shell (as root), restart the network:
#/etc/init.d/network restart
3) from shell (as root): #hostname
This should show nw4host
Then you can restart the SAP WebAS (startsap nw4host), and connect the SAPGUI again. One thing to note is that I did mine through my linux box with Java GUI (it's provided in the NW04 TestDrive DVD: <mount_drive>/client/RPMS/i386/PlatinGUI-Linux-6.30-4.i386.rpm
I think the whole DVD is now available through SDN as well.
Also, I'm assuming the 192.168.0.1 is a static IP.
If not, then you would need to run dhcpd on the machine running the SAP server (WebAS).
Hope this helps.

Hi Everybody,
I also got the everything up and running on FC after some tweaking. I have posted my solution at
in case it helps anybody.
My comment at the end is that in order to get eth0 up (without which, the virtual interface created by the installation won't work), I had to assign a static address rather than use DHCP, because of not being connected to a network.
Cheers,
Martin
Hy Roland i have the same problem.
Could you help me?
I have installed the SAP 7 testdrive on SUSE 10 SP2.
In my hosts file i find this:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 SAPTest ( host of my suse system)
195.155.155.1 n4shost
I think that SAPTest should have the same IP of n4shost; Could it be the solution?
Thsnk's a lot.
Sincerely.
