What Version of Portal are we on - is it Netweaver or not???

Sorry to post what appears to be such a simple question, but I am really struggling.

I am working on a paper about NetWeaver - what benefits it brings and how do we get on it.

With Portal, we are currently running Enterprise Portal 6 with SP 14 - some tell me that SP14 is NetWeaver 2004s, whilst others are telling me we need to upgrade the Portal infrastructure to get onto the NetWeaver platform.

Help!!!!

Are there any good presentations or papers that simply explain the versions of Portal, BW, XI, R/3 that you need to get to, to say you are on NetWeaver.

Thanks

Giles

The SAP Enterprise Portal 6 is part of the SAP NetWeaver suite (I believe it was called NetWeaver from EP6 SP02).

On the SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com) you can find a lot of information on versions and releases of the different NetWeaver products. (http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks)

SAP has aligned it's releases for all products within the NetWeaver platform. This means that if they release SPxx for NetWeaver, SPxx upgrade files for <b>all</b> NetWeaver products become available at the same time.

All NetWeaver 2004 products run on SAP WebAS 6.40.

All NetWeaver 2004s products run on SAP WebAS 7.00.

The current SP level of NW2004 is SP18.

The current SP level of NW2004s is SP09.

The version of the NW2004s Enterprise Portal is 7 (EP7).

That all said here's your situation:

EP6 SP14 is a NetWeaver 2004 (<b>not</b> 2004s) product, so you are already running a NetWeaver platform product.

There's no need to upgrade your Portal Infrastructure unless you experience specific problems that are tackled in newer SP levels.
