JCO Connection not pinging

Dear All ,

I am facing problem in pinging or doing test connection for my RFC metadata (WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST) .

I am getting following error while pinging :-

Failed to ping JCo destination 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST'

I am getting following error while test :-

com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM TYPE=B MSHOST=devsrv GROUP=PUBLIC R3NAME=DEV MSSERV=sapmsDEV PCS=1 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host with Unicode ERROR Group PUBLIC not found TIME Tue Oct 10 12:27:56 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT LG VERSION 5 RC -6 MODULE lgxx.c LINE 3515 DETAIL LgIGroup COUNTER 1

Please help me on this .

Hi

Make an entry in

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services

<SAPMESSAGESERVER> <PORT>/tcp

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

<IP> <alias>

Hi Urjit,

I got the same error and i resolved by.

Ask your R/3 Administrator to make your username under Public group. Your Administrator can create Public group in R/3 Server then your ping will successful.

Let me know still problem persist.

Dear Suresh,

We have SAP 4.6c .

I told my Basis Admin to make userd id public, but he is saying that there is no "Public" group .

Please clarify.

Problem is solved .

System was not pinging due to logon group in R3.

Logon grp in R3 was null.

I have created logon grp name PUBLIC in R3, which solved this problem.
