Hello Everybody,

I was trying to install NW04s SP07 on my laptop, but it gave me following error:

SAPinst is getting started.

Please be patient ...

starting gui server process:

sapinstport: 21200

guiport : 21212

guistart : true

command : "C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_06/bin\javaw.exe" -cp "C:/DOCUME1/B#@v!K/LOCALS1/Temp/sapinst_exe.1428.1160337630\jar\instgui.jar;C:/DOCUME1/B#@v!K/LOCALS1/Temp/sapinst_exe.1428.1160337630\jar\inqmyxml.jar" -Xmx256M -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true SDTServer config=jar:sdtserver.xml guiport=21212 sapinsthost=localhost sapinstport=21200 guistart=true

load resource pool C:\Bhavik\Softwares\SAP\NW04s\NW2004sSP7_Preview\SAP_NetWeaver_2004s_SR_1_Installation_Master_DVD__ID__NW05SR1_IM1\IM_WINDOWS_I386\resourcepool.xml

guiengine: no GUI connected; waiting for a connection on host Bhavik, port 21200 to continue with the installation

I have checked the host-IP mapping in the hosts file.

System is not in the domain. Its in workgroup.

I have logged in with Administrators rights.

What should be the problem here?

Regards,

Bhavik

Have you set the environment variable for SAPINST_JRE_HOME?

Right click My computer, properties, advanced tab, environment variable, under system variables, click new, add the variable SAPINST_JRE_HOME, in my case, it is set to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\jre

Check where the j2sdk is installed to on your machine.

What are these ports mean?

starting gui server process:

sapinstport: 21200

guiport : 21212

guistart : true

I am able to see only one port - 21200 (sapinstport) actice when I am trying to start my installation.

What is the use of guiport (21212)?

I have checked sdtstart.err file and found following entries.

10/Oct/2006 19:14:47 error in:

Class : com.sap.sdt.server.core.SDTServer

Name : main

Static : true

class [Ljava.lang.String; - [Ljava.lang.String;@16b13c7

java.lang.RuntimeException: invocation target exception: null

at com.sap.sdt.util.misc.MethodCall.invoke(MethodCall.java:110)

at com.sap.sdt.util.misc.BootStrapper.start(BootStrapper.java:106)

at SDTServer.main(SDTServer.java:49)

It might help to analize the problem.

Two things:

First, your directory name is exorbitantly long. I know that we had somtimes trouble with very long dir names, try on that.

Second, are you trying to install from scratch? SP's are updates and therefore need to find an already installed package...

Benny

Hi Raja,

I have downloaded jdk 1.4.2_09.

But still the installation is not starting.

When I clicked on sapinst.exe nothing happened.

I opened sapinst output window, and the I found above error.

SAPIsnt GUI is not starting.

I am providing some more details if it helps to troubleshoot.

I am installing WAS server on my laptop. My laptop is connected to the wireless router via wireless connection.

Initially I tried installing WAS server with wireless connection on. But it got failed.

Then, I closed my wireless connection and configured Microsoft loopback adapter and specified static IP address.

But still it is not working.

What should be the reason for this?
