Dear MDM Gurus,
What are the questions to be asked when we model ?
I have gone thru the doc but would appreciate any
experiences/best practices with the same.
Thanks.
Jack
Hi,
When modelling the data, mak sure that you avoid any redundant entries..Make use of look up and qualified look up in order to avoid th same..
Also, have you gone through the doc on service marketplace which talks only about data modelling..
That shall be very helpful to you..
Regards,
Tanveer.

Hello Jack:
Usually when I get into a MDM project, the customer should have a catalog proposal, specially because Master Data Management is their main pain point.
Some specific questions should be:
Which departments of your company do you want to include on your Catalog?
Will you use the MDM catalog as a basis for BW Reports?
You also have to discriminate among the scenarios proposed by SAP:
Employees
Customers
Materials
Vendors
Business Partners
These escenarios are focused on maintaining catalogs as standard and "square" as possible. As I have seen, when customers see the possibilities they have for MDM they usually start having "good ideas" such as creating reports on MDM (instead than doing them on BW), adding new attributes, etc.
One main thing is to keep in mind that MDM is for Master Data, not transactional data such as stock, open orders, etc.
I hope that helps
Alejandro
