There is a type of Technical Systems called Standalone System, with which you can not asign production versions or software component versions. But you can asing business system to standalone technical systems.
When should we use such kind of Techincal Systems?
MUST REWARD FOR GOOD ANSWERS
Thanks in advance.

Hui
Hi Wang,
Web AS ABAP
Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.
Web AS Java
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
Standalone Java
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon.
Third-Party
Third-party technical systems contain third-party software components and products.
Hope this helps.

hi,
if you have an application that you want to register
in SLD and it does not have any
software components and products you can use this type
you can enter some details so your application
will be visible in SLD
(in system landscape directory where all system
"should be" visible)
if you have software components and products
you can use technical system - Third-Party
from the XI point of view you can use
Business Service in Integration direcotry
that does not require to create any entries in the SLD

Hi,
>>>>Yes, that's why i'm confused. Creating a standalone technical system makes no scence to desgin and configuraion in IB.
hehe:) in a way yes but SLD is not only used by the XI
it's for all applications and for clarity reasons
it might be good to have it there
(for example to be able to find what kind of system
do you have in your company - without opening
directory)
so it's more for documentaiton reasons that you
can/should create it in SLD

Hi Wang,
If your query is more about Standalone, say if it is Java application (Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective) then go for -> Standalone Java.
