Why to Map Fileshare in Other System to access it?

Hi All,

In order to make use of the FileShare which is not in the Machine where XI is installed we have to map that fileshare to the XI system or run an FTP daemon there and use that File Share. Why are not we able to access the Fileshare Directly? Why a Mapping of that File Share to the XI System necessary?

don't know why but would you feel better

if you knew why it doesn't work?

if you want to access without any mapping

you can just put an FTP on the shared folder

and access it that way

Hi,

If you need to access a file that exist in another system there need to be a OS level access permission to XI user. Otherwise you will not be able to access the file form another server. Instead you can do with FTP.

Thanks,

Prakash
