Integration between SRM and 5 R/3 backends

Hello,

We have the following scenario:

One SAP SRM 5.0 connected connected with 5 SAP R/3 backends (Each one belongs to one country). The Master Data (Materials, Vendors, ...) is not consolidated and each backend has a different code for the same product.

In SRM there will be an integrated catalog that needs to be mapped with each material and vendor code in the corresponding backend.

Is there any standard process to map the master data from 5 backends with the master data in SRM (new Part Numbers and new vendor codes will be generated in SRM and must be linked to the corresponding codes in each backend).

When PO is created in SRM and replicated in the corresponding backend, Part Number and Vendor code will be changed according to the mapping.

Wich alternatives are to cover this gap?

- Alt 1: mantain a Z table in SRM with the mapping of Part Numbers and Vendors and develop some BADI's to overwrite the Part Number and Vendor code when PO is send to backend.

- Alt 2: use a new R/3 MM installation to consolidate all the Master Data and use the standard scenarios of SRM. Integrate all 5 backends with the new one (maybe Idocs?)

- Alt 3: use MDM (not possible as requirement)

- Alt 4: unify all Master Data in each backend

Do you have any idea on this?

Thank you in advance.

Somebody else already got the solution?

I have a scenario silimar.

'll Call the SRM 5.0 to 3 Backends 6.0 and 4.7.

There arent different countries, all in the same country and have the same material, vendors. However with different codes.

How do I deal with the replication of master data without having to triple the information in SRM?

There is the possibility of mapping standard in SRM?

The impact will be great if we have 3 codes for the same material in the SRM, as it is misleading for the buyer and will subsequently impact on the way down the request.

I'm in the extended scenario.

Thanks,

Pedro

Hi Luis,

You shouldn't worry about multiple backend Master Data mapping because in SRM all the Master Data with it's Logical System get stored .

So for same Master Data you will have definately diffrent Logical System by which you can route it proper backend .

Hi All,

We have a similar situation and we are interested in 4th solution mentioned above.

Is it possible to add new fields into SRM product master data to display country?if yes how this can be done?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Luis,

Seems to be an interesting project :-).

Well, we didnt have 5 diff backends.. but we did have teh problem of master data synchronization between the ERP systems and SRM system.

The two alternatives we evaluated were Alt 1 and Alt 4. Alt 4 was really easy in our case. But we still went for Alt 1. For reasons like flexibility and not trying to change the original ERP.

We then created Z Mapping tables in SRM and use one of those many BADI's available while sending and receiving XMLs/IDocs from XI.

I dont know if that is the best mode or not but the bottomline is that it works for us :-).
