Hi All,

Can you please clarify my doubt ?

1.Can I just implement Netweaver and connect with SAP

R/3 4.6C ?

2. Do I need to have any other module implemented for this? Like XI / MDM etc?

Regards,

Rambadri

in an XI prespective you can indeed connect to R3 systems using the IDOC, RFC Adapter, ABAP proxy etc.

Hi Ram,

1) If U wanna Install SAP Netweaver suite and R/3 on the same system, U can do that pretty muck. first of all, Netweaver is a suite, and U can go 4 the components depending on Ur interest. like XI, EP and MDM. for installing the Netweaver in Ur PC, no need to go for R/3 installation (Ex: ECC 5.0). If Ur desktop/Laptops configuration is sufficient, U can Install both in different drives/OS and communicate each of them with same IP address.

2) first U understand the architecture of SAP Netweaver. Netweaver is a Suite. The XI, EP and MDM are the components for different requirements. every component of Netweaver can communicate to R/3 independently.

Hi Rambadri,

Netweaver is just a platform which is based on open standards. It has got various components like EP, BW, XI, MDM, Web AS 6.40.

For more info refer to SAP help or www.service.sap.com/netweaver.

Hi,

To connect 2 r3 systems XI is not actually needed. Just created RFC destinations to the target R3 system.

But, XI allows monitoring, mapping and takes off Point to point connections and so on.

Hi Bavesh,

Let me explain my Doubt

1. Is it possible to install Netweaver seperately and

whatever the component we want like XI, EP, MDM

seperately ?

2. Incase if I want to connect a R3 system with a

Netweaver, should I definitely need to have XI,

EP, MDM etc ?

Please clarify my doubt

>>>

you dont have anything known as netweaver

you can get SAP Netweaver Xi/MDM etc which are components of a concept called Netweaver.

EP, MDM etc ?

>>>> in case of Netweaver being implemented Xi is prefered to be there for the integration of diff. systems.
