Custom Login Module for Portal

Hi.

I am running EP6 SP14.

I am attempting to implement a custom login module for my portal. When building this, I used the examples available on help.sap.com and SDN. My login module will authenticate using COOKIES passed from independent authentication system.

Everything is working fine except that upon returning to the portal (after successful authentication), the portal's login page is displayed. However, if I do a browser refresh, I am successfully taken into the portal for the authenticated userid.

What may be causing this one-step stall (browser refresh needed) between a successful login() and commit() from the login module and the portal display?
