Hi Group,
is there a way (cmd) to check out the workload from our iseries main netcard ? in percent or in average stats ?
Regards
Thomas
The "Graph History" function of iSeries Navigator can display "LAN Utilization" information over a selected period of not more than 30 days. The utilization value is shown in Percent and 20% should be a general guideline of high utilization for individual LAN port.
U need to start Collection Services fisrt before being able to use Graph History. Chances are that it may already be started if U R running OS/400 V5.
To learn more on this, go to this web site http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/navigator/presentations.html and download PDF files on the topic named "Monitoring the Health of Your System" and "Managing System Performance".

Hi Thomas,
I would fully agree with Satid, that 20% per card is quite a lot. If you are using GB ethert, what I expect, i would expect 2-4% util.
I have never had any issue there.

Hello Thomas,
From OS/400 command line, try NETSTAT - option 3 - Function key F10. It should display the total "segment sent" and "segment received". And check it back in a few hours, you should get the average.
Another option is to get the statistic info from the network/switch. As I heard, even some free-downloaded network monitor software could print nice charts for this type of information.
Good luck,
Victor
