System Landscape on XI or SRM ?

Former Member

Hello to all,

Actually I have to configure the system landscape for several systems, but I do not know which are the best practices that I must follow to form it.

I have two servers one of the XI and other one of SRM 5.0, additional I have in another server of SSM 3.2.

Would I like to know which is the best recommendation, if I must install and configuring SLD in the XI or SRM?. And if someone can indicate me where it he can access information that recounts me to this topic.

I have never formed the SLD in Systems SAP, estimated to anybody who could orientate me.

Best Regards,

Desiree

Hello Desiree,

A good approach is to use the SLD for your Solution Manager 4.0, by using this SLD as primary one, you can release the resources for the others Application Servers and also use this for change management reporting....

Of course it depend how critical is your XI and if your system have sufficient resources.

BTW, if you don't have a Solution Manager you must install one as soon as possible or at least use the SM Diagnostics as stand alone cause it's very important for root cause analysis on Java based product like your XI.

Hope this helps.

Luis

More and more SAP solutions are relying on the SLD. SAP's original best practice indicated a single standalone SLD, however this has changed as there are several use cases where multiple SLD's are required. Every customer is different, so you should follow the recommendations in the SLD Planning Guide (found via http://service.sap.com/sld). In any case, if you have several SLD's in your landscape, you can manually or automatically synchronize them using the data bridge.

Hi,

Would also suggest this document,

Hi Desiree,

Install the SLD on XI. The reason is that XI, being the Integration Hub, calls the SLD often, and the SLD lookup is faster if it on the same server as XI.

Hope this helps,
