Checking if XI is up and running?

Wat r the things that should be checked in the first place to find out whether XI engine is up and running or not?

Links and documents would help me.

Naveen,

This is what I do.

Log on to the ABAP stack using the SAP GUI. If it is up and running you will be able to connect to it.

In SM59 --> TCP IP coonection --> Try a Test Connection of AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER and AI_DIRECTRORY_JCOSERVER If connection to this fails, JAVA stack is down else, JAVA stack is also running.
