DB14: BRBACKUP logs not generating

Former Member
0 Kudos

Dear Team,

We have an ECC 6.0 Production system.

1--> In DB14 tcode while monitoring the BRBACKUP logs, we could find no logs generated since past 3 days.

Till now its not generating any logs.

2-->We have checked the Redo Log Backups logs, its uptodate till today.

3-->We had no maintainance activity or shutdown of the system.

4-->We have informed our DB team also. But they revert saying 'This is via BR tool and DBA do not have control on this'.

Pleas let us know if there is any setting that we need to look into...

Regards

Imaan

Hi,

Are the backup logs being written on the OS level usually under /oracle/<SID>/sapbackup?

Could you check if tables SDBAH and SDBAD are getting updated?

Hi,

Work around could be BRTOOLS* upgrade.

1)sudo su -

7)Restart saposcol after saproot.sh has been restarted (saposcol -l -i60)

8)After installation check the DBCHECK, CLEANUP and UPDATESTAT in DB13

Hi,

find below path for alert log. file will be like alert_<DBSID>.log

for Oracle 10g : /oracle/<DBSID>/saptrace/background

for Oracle 11g : /oracle/<DBSID>/saptrace/diag/rdbms/<dbsid>/<DBSID>/trace

Also please let me know if the backup is getting triggered.

Hi,

Backup was triggered upto 6th march, but after that no triggering, logs etc visible from SAP/OS level....

Hi,

Can I know how you are triggering backup. if possible can you please provide the full backup command you are using to trigger your backup.

As you said that you are triggering backup using backint directly, you can't see the logs in db14.

DB14 logs are only or brtools. if you run backup using brtools they will be visible in db14.

SAP recommends using BRTools for such kind of things to avoid errors and malfunctions.

why are you not using brtools for backup. brtools also calls backint to perform the backup.
