Hi,

If you want to test brrestore, you can check it with option "-q"

syntax : brrestore -b <backup file> -m full -q

it just checks the availabilty of the directory structure according to the backup file and provides the errors if any. we usually run this as a prerequisite before running actual restore.

it creates a file with extension ".qur" with all the details. it won't restore the database, it just creates the directory according to the source backup file if that particular directory doesn't exists in target environment. it is like test run.

certainly, you'll need to modify the .afd file.

Use an editor of your choice...

Or, if you only want to change ORACLE_HOME, let's say from /oracle/PRD/112_64 to /oracle/QUA/112_64, then this will be done for you by brrestore, if started in the environment of QUA database.

Anyway, please read manuals about backup/restore!

hope this helps
