average batch processing time is very high

Hello everyone,

I encountered the fallowing problem on SAP system. From some weeks the average batch processing time is very high aprox 17sec, if I check in ST03N, which is unusual high.

I checked the number of background processes and and I believe that are neccessary, the system has a few application servers.

Do you have any idea why is this happening and how I can solve this issue?

thank you!

Kind regards,

manoliv

Hi,

You cannot solve this "issue" because it is not an issue.

The monthly average batch processing time is 48 s in my ECC6 production system and we have absolutely no problem with that.

Hint : Batch jobs are for long processing.

Hello,

Ok, but what about if I have also a high database time for most of background jobs?

I think that this is not normal. What should be done in this case?

Kind regards,

1). Try to run statistics on the table in DB20 and run the job again.

2). You can also put trace and see table needs an Index.

Thank you!

As a first thing, when the job runs in the background check for the table it's being used for long time or run st05 trace for the user.

in DB20, enter the tablename and click on create statistics button which start the statistics. You can check the progress of stats in same screen in "DBA Operation" button followed by All Operations button.

Once stats is done, try to run the job again in BG
