Hi Experts,
I am planning upgrade system kernel.
We have SRM 4.0 running on Windows and current kernel version and patch level is 640 and 155.
Can I upgrade the kernel to 700 directly without upgrading SRM application? Since, customer not agreed for complete system upgrade.
Is 700 kernel compatible with SRM 4.0 640 release? Has anyone tried this in your environments?
Thanks,
Sajitha
Hi Sajitha,
You cannot upgrade the kernel 700 without doing the system upgrade.
SAP kernel 700 is not compatible with 640 releases and cannot be performed.
But the 620 systems can run on 640 kernel.
1629598 SAP Kernel 720 will replace older kernel versions

Hi Sajitha,
Since there is not compatability matrix you only have SAP notes
For 700 kernel there is not compatibility for 640 release. Please refer the previous mentioned notes.
Please check this SAP notes
664679 Installing 6.40 kernel in SAP WEB AS 6.10/6.20\
803429 Desupport 6.20 kernel

Naveen.

Go to https://service.sap.com/pam
(pam = Product Availability Matrix, by the way)
Search for: SRM 4.0
Choose tab database platforms
You will see all possible combinations of:
SAP kernel - database - operating system
And well, SAP kernels all are kind of 6.40.
