Hi Forum, I'm Try to install SAP CE 7.2 and on the launch of sapinst the result is:

Starting local GUI (no GUI Server running, no remote GUI connection possible):

SAPinst port : 21200

HTTP port : 4239

GUI mode : normal

See note 1238121 for further information.

So are you able to open the sap gui window from port 21200 successfully? Does the sap inst gui opens up giving you option to proceed?

Hi Antonio,

I think the xterm is not configured properly. Is your display variable set correctly.

Try opening some other gui, ( ex oracle runinstaller) to see if the xterm is working fine.

I run fine the sapinstgui on the port 21200 but the "sapisnt" (not the sapinstgui) crash with the message:

product.catalog is not a valid control.xml.

Hi Antonio,

As you are running your installation on Unix, have you set your xterm(xclock) variable for your SAPinst gui to open in localhost.

Please attach the sapinst_dev.log for further analysis.

Hello,

you have to set the DISPLAY varaible on your Unix machine and you need a X-Windows server on your client (e.g. Hummingbird). Set the DISPLAY variable to the IP of your client.

However i prefer using vncserver:

on the Unix-box:

vncserver-geometry 1200x900 -depth 24

on your PC:

install any VNC-Client (e.g. TightVNC) and connect to the Server using <Hostname>:1

Start sapinst within the VNC-session.

yes!

i have running the Xterm, but when I run the SAPinst this crash!

i don't have a DEVlog because the SAPinst is not running.

My recent problem is what the product.catalog say not is a valid xml.
