8.when does this <b>transport come into picture in XI</b>

generally business system is used for SAP applications and bussiness service is used for non sap applications.

Hi,
Business Systems have an entry in the SLD . Busienss Servies do not have. When talking to an r3 system you need a Business System. Business Service requires you to manually assign hthe Interfaces to it in the ID.
