Testing connectivity to SAP Servers

I frequently face reliability issues in connectivity to sap servers.. On an average there is 5-15 % packet loss which kill the sessions.

Can you please help to identify good value of following parameters as good to expect, for any SAP server (say ECC) for high speed link (so that connection does not time out).

- time to live

- buffer size

- time out

Thanks,

Hello Jay,

You are trying to fix a network problem with parameters, this is not correct. You have to understand here that the issue is not your users that are disconnecting, but the 15% packet loss. In any environment where you have 15% packet loss you will have a lot of problems along with it. Your users disconnect, your RFC connections will be suddenly dropped due to connection broken, you might have some connectivity problems between application servers and message server.

The users disconnecting is only a consequence of the issue. You should really approach your network guys and try to solve this issue.

Cheers,

Maurício

Theres plenty of info about this in SAP Notes including some FAQ's

In a good link you should not be dropping packets, I will strongly recommend you to talk to your IT people
