start a special WS application in EASY DMS

Hi

Is there a possibility to start a special workstation application for a special action and a special documenttype in EASY DMS?

(For example: if documenttype ist u2018XXXu2019 and action = view : start word viewer, else start ms word.)

The SAP customizing for workstation applications does not work here.

Hi Kerstin,

generally the setup of such a customizing would be very tricky. Maybe the BADI DOCUMENT_FILES01 with method BEFORE_START_APPL could be used to control and influence which application should be started.

thank you for your reply.

The badi DOCUMENT_FILES01 is not called with opening files in EASY DMS.

There are possibilities to set a special workstation application in EASY DMS with checkin of files, but

it seems that EASY DMS does not use the SAP Customizing of workstation application although it reads the settings (and also the defined path of ws application).

Dear Kerstin,

normally EasyDMS reads the settings for the workstation application which are maintained in DC30. Maybe a possible solution could be to create a special workstation application in DC30 and maintain the specific application path at 'Define workstation application in network'. Then you can choose this new workstation application if files are added via EasyDMS when storing the file. Afterwards if you display this file the system should start the application maintained in DC30.

...this I hoped do apply - but EASY DMS does not consider these settings in DC30 while opening the file (although the trace shows that the (in DC30) defined path has been read by EASY DMS).

The file is downloaded to working directory for viewing, then the settings of the operating system are applied.

In file properties (EASY DMS context menu) the application can be changed - but this change is applied for all windows files (outside of EASY DMS).

Perhaps EASY DMS parameters have to be changed?

Dear Kerstin,

on possible reason for the usage of a special 'default' application could be that one user chooses this application as default and therefore a registry key is written at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\EasyDms\System\[systemID_client]\WsAppls

If there is such an registry entry here this application will be choosen.

Another possibility to control which application should be used in EasyDMS could be the function module 'Z_EASYDMS_GETWS_APPLICATIONS' (see SAP note 918039). This function module could be used to read out the settings of customizing transaction DC30.
