Hi,
I am using MDM 7.1 sp04. Can we delete a record using MDM workflows? If so, how?
Regards,
Rajeev
Hi Rajeev,
And if you want something like whenever a record is deleted workflow should be trigerred and should go through approval and once when it is approved ,in checkin state record should get deleted.
This case is not possible as MDM worklfow triggers only on record add and update.
It is not recommended to delete record from MDM.Instead you can set a flag field with Yes/No Indicator and trigger workflow.
This will be a soft delete from MDM.
And also you can also set delete authorizations in Role to delete records so no unauthorzed person xcan delete record.

Hi Rajeev ,
Just wanted to add one more thing ,
If you go with "Deletion Flag" Indicator you can mark the records and there can use a batch job to clear the records on a Hourly / Weekly / Daily / Monthy basis .
More over if you are concerned on the load on the server to run this job , you can schedule a weekly job and create a name serach Putting this "Deletion Flag" as a filter so that the data is not pushed or pulled to the UI Level .

Deleting records from MDM system is always a manual step. If you want to delete then you can define a flag in Data model as "Deletion Flag". In the MDM workflow, you can define a Process step in which the user can mark the records for deletion. You can also put an Assign step which marks the record for deletion. Once the workflow is completed, the records marked for deletion can be manualy deleted.
But if you want to delete a record while creation, then it can be done using workflows.
Note that any record which is part of workflow can not be physically deleted.

Hi Rajeev,
There are ways to delete records in MDM using Import in conjuction with syndication in a MDM WF.
But I dont think that should be employed as in Create scenario "Roll Back" option takes you to previous save point which in null and in reality a record once created after a approval process should not be deleted as Nithu rightly suggested.
Marking for deletion should serve your purpose here.
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi Rajeev,
Technically, workflow is used to navigate the task/job to undergone some defined processes, as soon as the task/job has stared. Task/Job such as Record Add/Update/Import.
There is no such option to trigger a workflow on record deletion or to delete a record using workflow. Can you explain your requirement..?
